Dental Vocational (foundation) Training
Dental Vocational Training (DVT) is organised and administered on a Scotland-wide basis by Public Services Delivery (PSD) Scotland. The main components of DVT include: a centralised recruitment process and a standardised training programme designed to help recently qualified dentists make the transition from undergraduate teaching to independent practice.

Recruitment to Training Year 2027/28 has now commenced. Applications are now open on Oriel, and will close on Friday, 9th October 2026 at 12pm:

Visitation is open to rural practices only from this date. These practices are published on DTIS and are able to directly appoint. |

Visitation commences for all other practices from this date and continues for rural practices. |

Friday, 28th May 2027 at 10am |
Candidate preferencing window opens and direct appointments continue. |

Monday, 7th June 2027 at 2pm |
Visitation and candidate preferencing window close and direct appointments end. |

Wednesday, 9th June 2027 at 2pm |
Matching results released to candidates on Oriel, following which they will have 48 hours to either accept or reject. Shortly after this, matching results will be uploaded to DTIS for trainers to view who they have matched with.
