Navigating copyright can be tricky - especially when you're juggling deadlines, creating presentations, or sharing resources with colleagues. That’s why NES Knowledge Services have launched the Copyright Information for NHS Scotland Staff hub on Turas Learn.

This new resource replaces the old toolkit and gives clear guidance on using copyrighted materials in health and social care.

It includes useful information on various aspects of copyright such as reusing images, quoting form articles and exploring AI generated content.

What’s New?

  • Familiar advice, fresh format - the guidance you know and trust, now easier to navigate and more engaging
  • Relevant to everyone - whether you’re clinical, admin, education, or research-focused, copyright affects us all
  • Start smart - shift the mindset: think about copyright at the start of your project, not just when it’s time to publish or share
  • Reassuring and practical - if your work involves using other people’s content, this site will answer your questions or point you in the right direction
  • Packed with resources - includes eLearning modules, FAQs, reusable copyright statements, guidance on image reuse, and advice on copyright and AI

⚠️ Important reminder about AI tools

The NHS Scotland licence does not currently allow using copyrighted content with AI tools (including Copilot). Please don’t copy and paste articles, images, or documents into AI tools to summarise, rewrite, or analyse them.

This guidance may change in the future, but for now, it’s best to play it safe. See our Artificial Intelligence guide for useful advice.
