Meet the 2025 Scottish Pharmacy Clinical Leadership Fellows

Meet the 2025 Scottish Pharmacy Clinical Leadership Fellows
NES Pharmacy is welcoming four new Fellows to the 2025 Scottish Pharmacy Clinical Leadership Fellowship (SPCLF) programme.
Now in its eighth year, the SPCLF aims to develop the next generation of senior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who are passionate about advancing the profession and equipped to provide strategic leadership across NHS Scotland, nationally and internationally.
This year’s Fellows will be hosted by organisations including the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS), and NHS West of Scotland Directors of Pharmacy.
The 2025 Fellows are:
- Elspeth Boxall, NHS Lothian
- Lisa Dunn, NHS Lothian
- Niketa Platt, NHS Lothian
- Rocio Toribo, NHS Lothian
Leon Zlotos, Associate Postgraduate Pharmacy Dean at NHS Education for Scotland (NES), shared his thoughts:
“I’m delighted to launch the eighth year of the Scottish Pharmacy Clinical Leadership Fellowship and welcome Elspeth, Lisa, Niketa and Rocio.
They will collaborate with dental and medical fellows, fostering interprofessional connections across Scotland and building networks that will support them throughout their careers. All Fellows will participate in the NES Leadership and Management Programme, which will help them grow as leaders and apply their skills in real-world settings through their individual projects.
As our health and care system continues to evolve, there is an increasing need for service redesign, workforce transformation, and the adoption of innovative technologies to address workforce pressures and deliver high-quality care. Effective clinical leadership is essential to drive these changes, and this programme is designed to nurture the leaders who will shape the future of pharmacy in Scotland.
The Fellowship combines personalised leadership development with a practical project, allowing Fellows to apply, test, and refine their leadership skills. Over the course of the year, they will strengthen their capabilities while contributing to vital work that supports the future of pharmacy in Scotland.”
Launched in 2018, the Scottish Pharmacy Clinical Leadership Fellowship has grown into a cornerstone of leadership development within NHS Scotland. It continues to support emerging pharmacy leaders and advance strategic goals to improve patient care across the country.
