What is the Leadership Success Profile?

Jess Elsey, Head of Programme for Leading to Change said:

“We’re really excited about this new resource and its potential to support people in operational leadership roles develop their leadership capability.
"The new leadership success profile is designed to complement and build on other leadership frameworks and standards used across the health, social care and social work workforce.
"We hope this new suite of tools will add value to what’s already offered by Leading to Change and really help operational and aspiring leaders reflect and focus on how they can develop their leadership capability further and how this can support their continuous learning, professional development, and perhaps transition into a different type of operational leadership role.”

The LSP is a holistic framework designed to:

  • Support individuals at all stages of their leadership journey.
  • Guide organisations in identifying, developing, and empowering leaders.
  • Promote inclusive leadership that reflects the needs of Scotland’s diverse communities.

It is built around three core components:

  1. Behaviours – Observable actions and leadership practices.
  2. Personality, Values & Motivation – The internal drivers that shape leadership style.
  3. Transition Requirements – Key experiences and learning needed to move between leadership roles.
