Community Pharmacy Workforce Survey 2025

In September 2025 NES Pharmacy, in conjunction with Community Pharmacy Scotland (CPS), will co-ordinate the annual national community pharmacy workforce survey to gain a better understanding of staff numbers and skill mix within community pharmacy in Scotland.

The online survey will take a snapshot of the community pharmacy workforce between Sunday 7 September and Sunday 13 September 2025.

Pharmacists (plus those working centrally if appropriate), locum pharmacists, pre-registration trainee pharmacists, pharmacy technicians including trainees, and pharmacy support staff are all eligible to take part.

The survey will collect data for independent community pharmacies. The survey will be emailed to each pharmacy’s mailbox and encourage them to identify one person to collate their information.

Multiple and Group pharmacies will have a nominated individual who will gather the data using a standard spreadsheet. More information will follow shortly.

NES Pharmacy will analyse all the data gathered from the survey and use it to:

• help inform pharmacy workforce planning and development,
• ensure we have the right workforce in place now and
• can take action to meet future demand.
