Vaccinating a Nation

New guidance published by the Institute of Ergonomics and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) looks at ten human factors and ergonomics (HFE) principles to support systems thinking for vaccination programmes that apply across multiple settings.

These HFE principles relate to the identification and description of work systems (Identify), the improvement of work systems and processes (Improve), and the continuous learning from experience to achieve sustainable change (Adapt).

Professor Paul Bowie, Programme Director (Safety and Improvement) at NES said:

“The guidance is aimed at existing programmes and those in development (most of the rest of the world). We have further learning to come from work currently underway in Scotland.”

The design and delivery of suitable training is one of the ten principles. Our COVID-19 Vaccination Programme site on Turas Learn contains a range of educational resources and information to support vaccinators at all levels of experience and those supporting the programme.
