Dr Sandra Ferguson, Associate Director and lead for the National Trauma Training Programme (NTTP) in NES Psychology recently contributed to an education and awareness raising session for the Scottish Government Cabinet, hosted by the Deputy First Minister, Mr John Swinney.

This was part of the joint Scottish Government and COSLA ambition for a trauma informed and responsive workforce, supporting the delivery of their organisational pledge in relation to NES Trauma Informed - Pledge your support.

Speaking about the experience, Dr Ferguson commented:

“It was great to be able to contribute to such a high profile session, highlighting the great trauma work we’ve done in NES within the wider context of that ambitious target.
“We are committed to our role supporting a trauma informed and responsive workforce, capable of recognising where people are affected by trauma and adversity, able to respond in ways that prevent further harm and support recovery, and addressing inequalities and improve life chances.”

NES has also signed this pledge along with around 50 partners across Scotland. Sandra presented along with two colleagues representing the perspective of lived experience.
