AHPs in Scotland: Be Appreciated, Be Connected, Be Inspired

The Allied Health Professions (AHP) Practice Education team at NES are collaborating with the Scottish Government and higher education colleagues to bring a hybrid event to the AHP workforce in Scotland in 2023.

Background to the event

The Scottish Government held a review of the AHP education and workforce to consider whether AHP education provision policy is correct for the current and future needs of our students - and the health needs of the population.

As part of the review the Scottish Government funded 12 projects to support the placement recovery of the 14 AHP professions. Further information can be found on Turas learn.

Who’s it for

The event is open to anyone working in and AHP role including educator, student and support worker roles, across health and social care, local authorities, further and higher education institutions and third / independent sectors.

About the event

The event will be a mixture of plenary and workshop sessions which will allow staff to:

  • have knowledge of key themes from AHP education and workforce review and the key themes and impacts of the Scottish Government funded AHP practice placement recovery projects
  • have understanding of resources and work underway to support their practice across the five key areas of the workforce strategy (Plan; Attract; Train; Employ’ Nurture)
  • discuss how they can apply their learning into practice
  • network, and share ideas and practice

Gail Nash, principal educator at NES, said:

“We are looking forward to bringing AHPs together next year, to learn and collaborate on what the future AHP role looks like - from an individual and whole workforce perspective.
“We are still working on the programme and will be able to provide more details on the speaker and sessions as we confirm them.”
