Karen Brazier is a Chartered Scientist, HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist, and Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science with over 20 years’ leadership experience in healthcare science. She advises the Scottish Government on policy, workforce strategy, and service transformation.

Scotland’s Healthcare Scientist of the Year 2024, Karen is recognised for inclusive leadership, clinical governance, quality improvement, and service innovation. She is passionate about engaging the healthcare science community and translating research into practice.

Karen also serves as Vice Chair of the IBMS Clinical Chemistry Advisory Panel and Co-Chair of the Science Council Registration Authority, supporting professional standards and workforce excellence.
