NHS Education for Scotland

A skilled and sustainable workforce for a healthier Scotland

Andy Dunne

Head of Programme (CPD)

Public Services Delivery Scotland

Andy Dunne has worked within the PSD Scotland Healthcare Science team since 2020, and is the Head of Programme for CPD. He completed a Master’s degree in Engineering from the University of Glasgow before carrying out postgraduate research at the Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit. It was this experience which made him realise he wanted to pursue a career in Healthcare Science, contributing to patient care and service delivery. He began as a trainee Clinical Scientist at the West of Scotland Mobility and Rehabilitation Centre (WestMARC) in Glasgow in 2011. Aside from his role within PSD Scotland he continues to work part-time as a Senior Bioengineer within the Wheelchair and Seating service. His expertise is providing specialised seating equipment, to patients unable to sit in a standard wheelchair, and investigating Adverse Incidents, to determine what was at fault and improve patient safety.

Outside of work, Andy loves spending time with his family, has a passion for music and enjoys running to keep fit.
