Vaccine Eligibility Calculator

Adult Seasonal influenza vaccination programme 2018/19
Vaccine eligibility calculator (using patient date of birth)

Note: The calculator is not compatible with Internet Explorer 8 as this version is no longer supported – please use an alternative browser.

This year different flu vaccines will be offered to the adult and at‐risk groups.

The recommended vaccine for individuals is based on the evidence provided by Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) relating to the effectiveness of vaccines for different age groups and available vaccine supplies.

To assist registered practitioners in selecting the appropriate vaccine, a vaccine eligibility calculator has been developed. This tool has been designed to support this programme but does not replace the clinical judgement and risk assessment of patients by registered practitioners. Vaccinators should always refer to the PHE Green Book resource for current guidance prior to administration of vaccines

Which patient groups does this eligibility calculator relate to?

This eligibility calculator is aimed at at the following groups of individuals:

  • Those between 18 and 64 years old in a clinical risk group* as of 31 March 2019
  • Those between 65 and 74 years old as of 31 March 2019
  • Those 75 years old and above as of 31 March 2019

*Note: GP practices are responsible for contacting individuals in clinical risk groups recommended for flu vaccination in the CMO letter. Prior to using this calculator, the registered  practitioner will already have applied their clinical judgement and deemed the patient eligible  for vaccination taking into account the risk of flu exacerbating any underlying disease that a patient may have, as well as the risk of serious illness from flu itself.
