One Out of Four: providing high quality care to women survivors of sexual violence

One out of Four is a project to ensure that the healthcare that we provide is sensitive to the needs of women survivors of sexual violence.

A range of learning resources has been developed by a multi-agency and multi-disciplinary national working group.

These resources include an eLearning resource and resources for facilitators to provide local workshops.   The resources are hosted on the Maternity Care Portal on the NES Knowledge Network

The workshop resources include four short films depicting women survivors talking about their experiences of healthcare.  Two films explore maternity care, one film cervical screening and one of the films gynaecology.  The films last between 3 and 5 minutes each.  The resources support facilitators to engage professionals in group work discussion using the films as a springboard.  The workshops aim to support professionals to become more aware of the impact of their care on women, the impact of a history of sexual violence on women's responses to their care and to consider ways to improve the care provided to women in our services. The films and key learning points can be accessed by individual learners on the Maternal health Knowledge network page linked above.
