Preventing Infections in Healthcare

This resource provides essential information for the application of the Standard Infection Control Precautions (SICPs) for all healthcare staff working in acute settings.

The Preventing Infection in Healthcare pocket book allows healthcare staff to choose information when presented with common infection risks when caring for someone in an acute setting and reveals the "must do" SICP guidance that should be followed to minimise the risk of spreading infection to themselves, other staff and the person receiving care.  It also highlights key advice on factors "to consider" as part of the SICPs and identifies other factors that keep staff and those being cared for safe.

The Preventing Infection in Healthcare pocket book was adapted from the Preventing Infection in Care at Home resource which was developed for those providing care in a patient/client's home or in a care home.
