Adult Mental Health

Welcome to the Psychological Interventions and Therapies for Adult Mental Health (PITAMH) web pages

The Psychological Interventions and Therapies for Adult Mental Health (PITAMH) team was set up by the Scottish Government's Mental Health Directorate & NHS Education Scotland in 2010 to support the delivery of the HEAT waiting times target by increasing the capacity of the Scottish NHS workforce to deliver psychological therapies and interventions. The PITAMH Team commissions, develops and provides training for staff working in mental health services in Scotland. Training opportunities are available for staff working in each of the Scottish Government Health Department priority areas (Alcohol & Substance Misuse, Forensic & Prison Health, Older Adults and Trauma) and staff working with adults with depression, anxiety and psychosis. Information about course content and eligibility is disseminated through the Psychological Therapy Training Co-ordinators in the local health boards.

Psychological Therapy Training Co-ordinators

Psychological Therapy Training Co-ordinators (PTTCs) are responsible for the dissemination of information and the co-ordination of psychological therapy training within the local health board. PTTC approval is required to attend training provided by the Psychological Intervention Team.

Digital technology is used to enhance the quality and access to the education and training resources provided by the Psychological Intervention Team.
