'Transforming the Pharmacy workforce through quality education'

1. Hold the date - Friday 1st May 2020

Do you have an interest in pharmacy education? We invite you to hold the date for the NES Pharmacy Conference 'Transforming the Pharmacy workforce through quality education' (part of the 10th National Scottish Medical Education Conference) to be held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Friday 1st May 2020.

The conference will cover key aspects in relation to pharmacy education in Scotland, including presentations from;

  • Dr Rose Marie Parr, Chief Pharmaceutical Officer for Scotland
  • Professor Anne Watson, Postgraduate Pharmacy Dean
  • Mark Voce, Director of Education and Standards & Damian Day, Head of Education, General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Gail Fleming, Director of Education, Royal Pharmaceutical Society 

 You will also be able to participate in interactive workshops which will focus on educational developments.

2. Poster submissions

If you have been involved in pharmacy education research and/or innovation, we invite you to submit your poster abstract in relation to the theme “Pharmacy education innovation & development”.

3. NES Pharmacy Award for Excellence in Educational Support

This year we will present an award to someone who has demonstrated Excellence in Educational Support. To be eligible all nominees must:

  • have been a tutor, facilitator or educational supervisor within a NES funded training programme* in the last 12 months
  • practise in Scotland, and
  • have excelled in the educational support that they have provided in this role

*NES Funded programmes include; Pre-Registration Pharmacist Scheme (PRPS), NES VT Foundation programme, NES VT Expert Professional Practice programme, NES GP Clinical Pharmacist programme, Postgraduate MSc or equivalent, Independent Prescribing course, any NES funded Pharmacy Technician programme.
