Nursing and Midwifery One Year Job Guarantee (OYJG) Scheme
Recognising the need to support transition into employment and to maximise the opportunity to build on clinical experience gained by nurses and midwives during their pre-registration programme
Through this process, the Scottish Government aim to ensure that all newly-registered nurses and midwives receive an offer of employment if they have not been able to find employment through their own endeavours. The scheme does not guarantee a position locally, but aims to match new registrants with vacancies and job opportunities across Scotland.
Internship opportunities
One important new approach development involves the creation of internship opportunities across NHS Scotland. The 'intern' position will involve the offer of a fixed-term, part-time (22.5 hrs) rotational, employment opportunity in clinical practice, to gain important clinical experience, skills, competence and linked to completion of Flying Start NHS®.
