Intermediate Curricular Framework for Education in Healthcare Associated Infections
Back to Useful Links and Additional Educational Materials
This framework is part of a staged approach to education in Healthcare Associated Infection for healthcare workers, which stretches from pre-registration to specialist levels. It provides the basis for further and higher education institutions to develop and deliver such programmes and is designed to meet the education needs of a variety of healthcare workers who wish to further their knowledge in this area, such as
- link infection control personnel
- healthcare workers aiming to specialise in HAI and infection control
- healthcare workers who wish t build upon the knowledge gained from the Cleanliness Champion Programme of Education.
The programme is based on the Standard Infection Control Precautions and articulates with the Framework for Mandatory Induction Training in HAI and the Cleanliness Champion Programme of Education.
It is anticipated that programmes produced by Further and Higher Education Institutions will be developed in partnership with NHSScotland to reflect the strong work-based ethos of the education element of the Code of Practice for HAI. It may also be developed by NHS organisations where such skills exist to do so.
