MRSA – A Clinical Scenario

Welcome to the NHS Education for Scotland (NES) HAI clinical scenario on MRSA and its management.

The course is designed to be self-directed and web based.   The materials comprise text, web links to relevant sites and some multiple choice questions.

 

The programme is aimed at the following group of clinical practitioners:

  • Doctors at Consultant, SpR and Foundation Level
  • Infection control managers
  • Infection control nurses
  • Specialist nurses
  • Clinical staff with an interest in the management of patients with MRSA

  • Effect continued clinical management
  • contribute to the early assessment of infection;
  • participate in clinical investigations and interpretation of results;
  • be aware of the criteria associated with appropriate antibiotic treatment;
  • understand the risk factors associated with MRSA;
  • describe infection control measures relevant when managing patients with MRSA;
  • recognise important differences between colonisation and infection.
