MRSA – A Clinical Scenario
Welcome to the NHS Education for Scotland (NES) HAI clinical scenario on MRSA and its management.
The course is designed to be self-directed and web based. The materials comprise text, web links to relevant sites and some multiple choice questions.
The programme is aimed at the following group of clinical practitioners:
- Doctors at Consultant, SpR and Foundation Level
- Infection control managers
- Infection control nurses
- Specialist nurses
- Clinical staff with an interest in the management of patients with MRSA

- Effect continued clinical management
- contribute to the early assessment of infection;
- participate in clinical investigations and interpretation of results;
- be aware of the criteria associated with appropriate antibiotic treatment;
- understand the risk factors associated with MRSA;
- describe infection control measures relevant when managing patients with MRSA;
- recognise important differences between colonisation and infection.
