Supporting People to Work
Work is a key determinant of health and helping people to engage in work or other meaningful activity contributes significantly to positive long term health outcomes. For those people with a health barrier to remaining in or returning to work, the attitude of healthcare professionals towards the relationship between health and work is critical.
As well as providing health benefits, work and other meaningful activity can be part of the recovery and rehabilitation process. It is important therefore that the patients work status is recognised and that the patient health care plan supports them either to return to work or to access employability services that will move them into work.
This Employability Training Pack for Healthcare Professionals has been developed to help you understand:
- The relationship between health and work.
- How best to identify the patients work status.
- Other support available.
