Corporate work within NES
Community Resilience
In 2010-11, NHS Education supported 4 chaplains, each working with a GP surgery, to design chaplaincy listening services appropriate to their local context. Researchers (employed by NES) supported chaplains through a process of defining the listening service, articulating it's overall aims and collecting evidence about the process and outcomes throughout. See the NES Spiritual Care pages for more information.
ChildSmile
NHS Education for Scotland Dental Directorate provides training through the Childsmile programme on a national basis, to help dental staff to improve oral health in children. For more information see the Oral Health Improvement section.
Virtual Patients
The NES Dental Directorate are working in collaboration to develop virtual patient interactive scenarios to illustrate some of the complexities of health inequalities and demonstrate some skills needed for sensitive practice from healthcare staff. The NES Pharmacy Directorate are now also developing complementary virtual patient training scenarios to tackle health inequalities. Each of the scenarios have been are written by teams who contain clinical and subject specific experts. For further information see Virtual Patients project.
