MHRA is a government agency responsible for ensuring that medicines and medical devices work and are acceptably safe.
Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC)
The remit of the SMC is to provide advice to NHS Boards and their respective Area Drug and Therapeutics Committee (ADTC) across Scotland about the status of all newly licensed medicines, all new formulations of existing medicines and new indications for established products (licensed from January 2002).
Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN)
The objective of SIGN is to improve the quality of health care for patients in Scotland by reducing variation in practice and outcome, through the development and dissemination of national clinical guidelines containing recommendations for effective practice based on current evidence.
