for Clinical Nurse Educators in NHS Lothian, and is adapted from
the work described in a similar poster from 2010 (see below).

theory-driven Realistic Evaluation study of the Safety Improvement
in Primary Care (SIPC) programme. This poster introduces the aims
and methods of this evaluation.

This poster gives an overview of evaluation work which is looking
at the training programme for Clinical Nurse Educators. This aims
to explore course effectiveness through analysis of delegate
satisfaction with training, learning acquired and, importantly, the
impact of the training upon delegates' attitudes/behaviour on
return to their working environments.

of the Evaluation of the Scottish Patient Safety
Fellowship (September 2009) [PDF]
The Scottish Patient Safety Fellowship (SPSF) was conceived and
commissioned in recognition of the increasing need for clinical
leadership capacity and capability to effectively promote, deliver,
sustain and spread the SPSP. This report's findings and
recommendations are informed by a range of interviews,
focus groups, direct observation, reviews of relevant course
documentation and the results of two questionnaires.
Report of the Evaluation of the Scottish Patient Safety Leadership

The aims of the Scottish Patient Safety Leadership Development
Course were:
- to further develop the knowledge and quality
improvement skills of delegates with key leadership roles and
responsibilities for coordinating, promoting and spreading the work
of the SPSP.
- to provide delegates with the necessary quality
improvement tools, strategies and support to develop and implement
an action plan to improve the patient safety in their
organizations.
- to encourage the development of a community of
practice and learning stretching across traditional organizational
and professional boundaries.
This report aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the
course as the return on expectation (ROE) of the delegates and
stakeholders, and to make specific recommendations to the
stakeholders responsible for the course design, development and
potential future delivery.
