Equal Health Skilled Resource

In 2016 NES published ‘Equal Health: an educational framework on health equalities for people with learning disabilities for all practitioners working with people with learning disabilities: a human rights-based approach’. This framework was developed to help all practitioners further enhance their ability to promote health equality for people with learning disabilities and the framework sets out 4 levels of knowledge and skills.

This educational resources is for health and social services staff working with people with learning disabilities to support implementation of the Equal Health at the ‘ ‘Skilled’ level of the framework. The target audience for the resource are health and social services staff who by nature of their role have direct and substantial contact with people a learning disability (including those undertaking vocational qualifications and undergraduate programmes leading to professional registration).

This is a comprehensive resource organised in modules that explore the following areas of knowledge and skills:

 

Module 1:   Understanding learning disability and health equality

Module 2:   Person-centred approaches to promoting equal health       

Module 3:   Promoting health and well-being for people with learning disabilities

Module 4:   Supporting people with health needs

Module 5:   Human rights, learning disabilities and equal health.

The resource is also available in hard copy and includes the Equal Health – Informed level DVD.
