Maternal Mental Health

The Maternal Mental Health e-learning resource was published in September 2015.

The resource is made up of two short modules. Together they provide around 4 hours of learning. The resource aims to provide an introduction to understanding and supporting mental health during pregnancy and in the postnatal period.  It provides up to date evidence based information about:

Assessing risk and the need for multi-disciplinary care

Prescribing during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Talking about mental health and offering support

Common mental illnesses and mental health problems - their symptoms and treatments

The relationship between pregnancy and childbirth and mental health problems

The resource is hosted on our Maternal Health website on the Knowledge Network which can be accessed at the link below. http://www.knowledge.scot.nhs.uk/maternalhealth/learning/maternal-mental-health.aspx
