Pathway - Intermediate layer

pathway intermediate layer

The principles in this layer relate to the application of knowledge into practice and motivation of staff. The majority of the elements contained in this layer already exist (see online courses and training resources webpages) and therefore complete re-development will not be required although some re-purposing may be necessary.

It is this layer that provides further learning for staff (including existing Cleanliness Champions), the building blocks for them to progress and enhance their knowledge and skills and champion good practice locally and nationally as they join or continue in the pathway.

The intermediate layer will provide resources to:

  • Enhance 'clinical’ or ‘practical’ skills
  • Reinforce decision making and clinical reasoning
  • Develop Interpersonal skills and leadership skills

The HAI Team are currently developing new modules which include:

  • Using Audit to Improve Practice
  • Preventing the Spread of Multi-drug Resistant Organisms
  • Managing people with a Clostridium difficile Infection
  • Preventing and Reducing Risks in the Workplace
  • Managing Difficult Conversations
  • Decision Making

The intermediate layer will be available from Summer 2018.
