MRSA - A Clinical Tutorial

This tutorial is aimed at clinical practitioners wishing to update their knowledge of MRSA or staff new to this topic wanting to learn more about it.

This resource is provided for all Scottish NHS and non-NHS health and social care staff.  It is also available for students in Scottish Higher or Further Education Institutions.

Target Audience

The target audience includes antimicrobial management teams, consultant level physicians and surgeons, specialist training doctors, foundation year doctors, infection control teams, specialist nurses and community nurse practitioners, charge nurses and ward based staff and clinical staff with an interest in MRSA, its treatment and prevention.

Learning Outcomes

After completing the tutorial you will be able to:

  • have a better understanding of what is meant by MRSA and its significance as a cause of infection
  • be aware of how MRSA infections can be treated
  • be aware of important factors in the prevention of transmission of MRSA

Further Information

The anticipated learning time for this tutorial is one hour.  The assessment comprises multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 80%.  On completion of the course you can print off a record of learning as evidence for your portfolio or training record.
