Why gain feedback?

The provision of feedback has become more standard across training and qualified grades in many professions. All staff in NHS Boards are encouraged to take part in the NHS Staff Survey and Boards are responding to drivers such as the 2020 Workforce Vision with other surveys or tools, for example to gather information about how engaged staff members feel in their teams. Other professionals for whom NES commissions training, such as Medicine and Nursing, have developed questionnaires of their trainees to gather information about how placement learning environments as well as the educational experiences on placement. Trainees are aware that the responsibility to give difficult feedback is a professional competence and appreciate the importance of giving accurate feedback for the benefit of future trainees.
