Interim Good Practice Guidelines

These good practice guidelines have been developed following consultation and recommendations from two short-life working groups tasked with responding to the expansion and refinement of training routes for clinical and applied psychologists in Scotland. The groups, one looking at the clinical practice education and the other at the employment of trainees, endeavoured to clarify the roles and responsibilities of the universities, employing Health Boards, and NES, as well as setting best-practice recommendations for training of psychologists in the NHS across Scotland.

As some policies and processes are still in development,  the guidelines should not be seen as definitive, but as part of a dynamic and ongoing process that is responsive to ongoing change within both clinical practice education and the employment of psychologists in training.
