Psychosocial Interventions Training Programme 2015

Psychosocial Interventions for Improving Adherence, Self-Management and Adjustment to Physical Health Conditions for Children and Young People

The Scottish Government Health Directorates (SGHD) in the policy document 'Better Health, Better Care: National Delivery Plan for Children and Young People's Specialist Services in Scotland' (SGHD, 2008) charged NHS Education for Scotland (NES) with building psychological capacity and capability in Scottish Paediatric Healthcare. As a result skill-based training is to be delivered on developing core skills in psychosocial approaches in working with children and young people relating to "Adherence/Concordance", "Self-Management" and "Adjustment to Paediatric Physical Health Conditions".

In order to book a place on these training events you will be required to set up a Portal account.

To set up a Portal account:

1. Go to

3. Complete all fields (mobile number is optional).

4. Choose a password.

5. Click the CREATE ACCOUNT button.

6. An email will be sent to you to verify your account by clicking on a link.

To book onto a course:

1. Click the CLASSROOM COURSES menu button on the left hand menu.

2. Search Psychosocial Interventions.

3. Click on the relevant course you wish to attend.

4. Click the ADD TO BASKET button.

5. Click on VIEW BASKET.


7. These training events are free of charge so please click NO for the question "Are you making a payment from a health board account?" and then YES to agree to the terms and conditions.
