News: Scotland's Dementia Awards
Today sees the launch of the first ever Scotland’s Dementia Awards: a partnership between Alzheimer Scotland, NHS Education for Scotland, NHS Health Scotland and Scottish Social Services Council. The event will take place on Thursday 20 September 2012 at Hampden Stadium, in celebration of World Alzheimer’s Day. The keynote address will be given by the Deputy First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon. Closing date for applications is Friday 13 July.

News: Breaking the Chain of Infection in Healthcare
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) has today updated and re-released ‘Breaking the Chain’ - the hugely successful DVD training resource developed around Standard Infection Control Precautions which are intended for use by all staff, in all care settings at all times for all individuals, whether infection is known to be present or not. It was originally launched in 2008 and targets the prevention of healthcare associated infections.

News: Landmark Dementia DVD Launched
In the first joint education initiative of its kind in Scotland, NHS Education for Scotland (NES) and the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) have produced an educational resource for the entire health and social services workforce in Scotland. Entitled Informed about Dementia: improving practice, the DVD is an important milestone in achieving the aims of Scotland’s National Dementia Strategy and has been fully endorsed by Alzheimer Scotland and the Scottish Dementia Working Group (SDWG), the national campaigning group run for and by people with dementia.
