Practice Manager Development

Overview of support and educational opportunities for managers based in GP practices across Scotland

There are over 1000 GP practices in Scotland, from the Borders to the Shetland Islands. Practices consist of a multidisciplinary team and we provide support to develop practice managers through a vocational scheme and a development network.

Practice Managers play a central role in meeting the changing demands within Primary Care.

We support practice managers by supporting the Scottish Practice Management Development Network and the Practice Managers Vocational Training Scheme, enhancing the quality of educational provision, and providing services for a wide group of stakeholders in Scotland.

This work fits within the wider NES strategic plan, in particular with the four key themes identified in the NES strategic framework:

  • Networking at a National and Local level
  • Building workforce capacity for service improvement
  • Succession Planning
  • Delivering educational support
  • Strengthening partnership working
