The Scottish Foundation School encompasses all four Deaneries, with Foundation programmes designed to cover different specialties, populations, geographical diversity, teaching hospitals and remote and rural practice.
There are 1,608 funded training opportunities for foundation doctors delivered by the four postgraduate deaneries through 53 two-year foundation programmes.
Recruitment to the 2 year programmes in the school is undertaken as part of the UK wide recruitment process (external site). Academic foundation programmes are also available and are recruited to prior to the national recruitment process.
