We have oversight of training programmes and initiatives to develop the healthcare science workforce, with an aim of ensuring a sustainable fit-for-purpose workforce supply for NHSScotland.
Our interests span the three HCS divisions: life sciences, physical sciences and clinical physiology, for example:
- National postgraduate pre-registration training for Clinical Scientists
- Pre-registration and post-registration support for other groups
- Leadership development across HCS
- Support staff initiatives
- Trainers and assessors
NES Healthcare Science was established in direct response to the Scottish Government Action Plan (2007) for Healthcare Science - Safe Accurate and Effective. We have membership of the Scottish Forum for Healthcare Science. We are involved with emerging arrangements at a UK-level for Healthcare Science education, training and accreditation.
