Ms Theresa Houston
Non-Executive Board Member of NHS Education for Scotland
Theresa Houston has a broad based business background in both the public and private sectors. During her time as Chief Executive of Scotland the Brand - a specialist marketing organisation set up to promote Scottish products and services at home and overseas - she was skilled in a range of disciplines including organisational development, marketing, finance, human resources - at both strategic and operational level. As part of her remit she developed an international and domestic strategy to promote the quality 'brands' of Scotland, alongside the creation of a unique national quality mark - awarded to companies operating in Scotland who could evidence their commitment to quality and growing excellence in their business. She also has extensive public sector experience prior to her role at Scotland the Brand.
Her career with ScotRail spanned 25 years, and as the board member responsible for customer services she headed up a range of customer service projects and initiatives, including a major culture change programme in the lead up to railway privatisation. As well as her role with NES, Theresa is also a non-executive director of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
