Professor Brian Durward

Director of Educational Development

Brian qualified as a physiotherapist in 1977 and after working in a number of hospitals, developed an interest in neurological rehabilitation and in particular stroke care.

Brian then started an academic career as a lecturer at Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh and during this time served as a quality assurance assessor for the Scottish Funding Council and reviewed the physiotherapy degree programmes across Scotland.

In 2001, Brian became Dean of Health and Social Care at Glasgow University and joined NES on 24 October 2009. Brian was born in Aberdeen and his interests include walking and fly fishing.
