Professor Bill Reid

Dean of Postgraduate Medicine - South East Region

Bill was a Consultant Geriatrician in the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow for 15 years prior to taking up post. Born and educated in Larkhall, Lanarkshire, he is a graduate of the University of Glasgow.

After clinical and research training in Lanarkshire, Edinburgh and Glasgow, he was appointed to a consultant post in 1993. He has been heavily involved in medical education through both NES and the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow, where he was a council member and led the Symposium Committee.

In addition he led the Scottish postgraduate tutors for four years and was Honorary Secretary of NACT UK. He became an associate dean (for MMC) in the West of Scotland in 2006, & worked as deputy dean in Glasgow before his appointment to Edinburgh.

Bill is the Liaison Dean for the Armed Services, and for Academic Training in Scotland.
